God

Abide.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

John 15: 10

I like this scripture. The phrase “abide in” makes me think of God’s love like a sort of shelter.

God’s grace and love are like a safe place for us to escape to, and obedience is the way He teaches us to abide in the strength of His love.

The shelter is there for us whether we choose to go inside or not. And although the weather of life is still around to test us, it has less power to overpower us when we choose to live in that building, each day.

God doesn’t ask us to be stronger than the weather. He asks us to come inside, and promises that HE is stronger than the weather.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

1 Corinthians 10:13
